Nineteen trucks carrying illegally sawn lumber have been seized in separate operations in the Eastern, Volta and Western regions by the Forestry Commission. Of the 19 trucks, 9 contained Rosewood and the other 10 had assorted timber species.

The Deputy Chief Executive of Forestry Commission, Mr. John Allotey, made this known in a media interaction together with the Executive Directors of FSD and TIDD, at the Achimota Depot of the Forestry Commission where the seized trucks were parked.

Mr. Allotey informed the media that the owners of the seized illegal timber will be prosecuted. This he said is to send a message to illegal loggers and truck owners who rent their trucks out to these offenders to transport illegal lumber that they risk having their trucks impounded.
