The Internal Audit Department of the Forestry Commission (FC) celebrates Internal Audit Awareness Month. The global celebration was to acknowledge the critical role of Internal Audit in enhancing governance, promoting accountability, and ensuring the sustainable management of Ghana’s forest and wildlife resources.
The Internal Audit Department at the Forestry Commission isn’t just there to check things once and move on. It works continuously to help the organization improve how it operates. By carefully reviewing how things are done and giving helpful advice, the audit team supports the Commission in its mission to protect and manage Ghana’s natural resources for both today and the future.
Internal Audit is an important part of the Commission, acting as a trusted guide and partner in making things better. Following international standards, the audit team works with honesty, professionalism, and a strong commitment to serving the public good.
Lawyer Joseph Boakye, Esq, Executive Director gave a brief speech on behalf of Dr. Hugh Brown, Chief Executive of Forestry Commission (FC). He said the role of the Internal Audit to the Commission is enormous. Lawyer Boakye gave a quote that “most people will do things that you will inspect and not what you will expect”. The Commission needs trained people to inspect and supervise the work done, because without the Internal audit there will be chaos.
He concluded his speech by congratulating all staff of the Internal Audit Department for the good work done over the years and admonished them to continue performing their duties effortlessly.
Rev. Carl Ahadzi, Director of Internal Audit Department reaffirmed their commitment to the principles that define internal audit excellence. Integrity guides all our actions as we remain honest, transparent, and courageous in our work. Confidentiality is paramount; we safeguard sensitive information with the highest level of care.
He said his Department apply critical thinking to continually build the skills needed to meet the Commission’s evolving needs. And above all, we believe in collaboration. Strong partnerships with the Board, Management, and staff are essential for delivering meaningful insights and supporting the Forestry Commission’s mission.
Together, let us uphold these values as we work to protect and grow Ghana’s natural resources for future generations.
The day was climaxed with seedlings planting within the office premises and cutting of a cake.
