The Wildlife Division of the Forestry Commission held its annual Performance Review Meeting at the Forestry Commission Training Center (FCTC) in Akyawkrom-Ejisu. The two-day meeting was to present targets achievements, evaluate shortcomings and challenges as well as present a forecast for 2025.

The meeting brought together Executive Directors, Directors, Management members, Regional Managers and Park Managers of the Wildlife Division and other Divisions of the Forestry Commission (FC).

The meeting began with a welcome address by the Acting Director of FCTC, Dr Nana Owusu Ansah. He welcomed all participants and wished them a fruitful meeting and a pleasant stay at the Center. He entreated the Executive Director (ED) of the Wildlife Division (WD), Dr Joseph Boakye, Esq., to enroll some of his staff in the second batch of training. Dr Owusu Ansah gladly disclosed that after two (2) years of running the Course in Paper Making, students will now be awarded with certificates in Vocational Training Education.

The Executive Director, Dr Joseph Boakye, applauded the World Wildlife Day Celebration Organising Team, WD Management, Acting Corporate HR Director, other Divisions, and all staff for a successful World Wildlife Day 2025 event, and asked that same support be extended to International Day of Forests 2025 celebration.

He promised to work on the infrastructural challenges in the Protected Areas (PAs) in phases to boost staff morale, and in turn encouraged staff to develop themselves to match up to the positions at the different levels of the Wildlife Division.

The Acting Executive Director of Timber Industry Development Division (TIDD), Dr. Richard Gyimah, said that the various Divisions must not work in isolation but network and organise events that will bring staff together to achieve the Commission’s goal. “We must also abreast ourselves with information from the various divisions to familiarise ourselves with their functions and operations”, he mentioned.

Dr. Gyimah said that the Staff Performance Review platform was to know targets achievements, shortcomings and challenges, so that “we can maneuver in the years ahead to improve our standards of operation”.

The Resource Management Support Centre (RMSC) Director, Mr Yaw Atuahene Nyako, explained that the Center was for research, that is, to provide technical advice to the various Divisions within Forestry Commission. He promised to ensure that all necessary researches being done in PAs are completed. He praised the leadership of WD and its hard working staff, alluding it to the unity and innovation among WD staff.

The Acting Corporate HR Director, Dr Gordon Kofi Sarfo-Adu, mentioned that all those due for promotion will be called for interview and the processes will be completed. He assured that issues concerning uniform for field work have been completed and procurement had begun and ongoing. He wished WD the best for the Performance Review Meeting.
