Forestry Commission has launched a digitalised property mark registration / renewal process and the Electronic Ghana Wood Tracking System, to improve service delivery.
Hon. Samuel A. Jinapor MP, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, launched the two applications at the Forestry Commission Training Center (FCTC) at Akyawkrom, Ashanti Region. The programme was attended by Hon. Benito Owusu Bio, Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources in charge of Lands and Forestry; Mr. John Allotey, Chief Executive of Forestry Commission; Dr. Julian P. Wright, West Africa Senior Climate Change and Natural Resource Advisor; Deputy Chief Executives, Board Members, Directors and staff of Forestry Commission, among others.
Hon. Samuel A. Jinapor in his address, described the move by Forestry Commission to come up with the applications as unprecedented and admonished the need to keep pace with technological advancements to meet emerging international market requirements.
The Chief Executive of Forestry Commission, Mr. John Allotey, expressed his appreciation to the Director of the Timber Validation Department of Forestry Commission, Mr. Chris Beeko, and his team for coming up with an innovation that will not only mitigate challenges the timber sector has been contending with but will also save time and improve service delivery.
Mr. Allotey also congratulated the Director for ICT of Forestry Commission, Dr. Joseph Adu Mintah, and his indefatigable team for creating the applications.
The E- Property Mark Registration App allows applicants to register, renew and extend contracts without any physical contact with Forestry Commission officials.
The electronic Wood Tracking System platform is designed and developed by Premium Technologies (PTECH) to track wood from the point of harvest to the point of export or point of sale in the local market and can be monitored on the app at each stage.
