The Deputy Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission (FC), Mr. Nyadia Sulemana Nelson, is visiting WA in the upper west region to create awareness on the upcoming green Ghana day project and to check how prepared the region is in regards to seed availability, site preparation amongst other matters, for the day.
He took the opportunity to visit the Overlord of the Wala Traditional Area, Wa Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, who pledged his support for the Project. The Wa Naa assured Mr. Nyadia of his active participation on Green Ghana Day, slated for June 10, 2022.
The Deputy CE was accompanied the Regional Manager, Mr. Stephen Asamoah Duah; Mr. Baba Musa, Lawra, District Manager; Mr. Isaac Gyekye, Deputy District Manager, Lawra and other staff of the District. The Region is to plant 600,000 seedlings out of 20 million seedlings slated to be planted on green Ghana Day.
Mr Nyadia visited some of the nurseries to inspect them and had opportunity to interact with some beneficiaries of the the youth in afforestation project who are very key in raising seedlings for the Project in the Region.
Seedlings to be planted across the Region includes Cassia, Mahogany, Shea, Teak, Mango, Rosewood and Cashew .
Mr Nyadia inspected some of the the road side trees that were planted during last year’s Green Ghana Day which showed a high survival rate.
