The Ministry for Lands and Natural Resources ( MLNR) and Social Development and Gender Specialists have conducted a gender, monitoring and evaluation capacity assessment of the Forestry Commission. The programme falls under the implementation of Ghana Landscape Restoration and Small Scale Mining Project (2021- 2027).
Selected staff from Greater Accra offices partook the programme.
Dr. Maria Iddrisu Rahinatu, Social Development and Gender Specialist was the resource person for the programme. In her presentation, she mentioned that organisations in the past overlooked the importance of gender relations. The first step that an organization needs to consider in gender relations is to address and integrate the special concerns of men and women fairly at work. She also spoke on economic empowerment among women.
In Dr. Rahinatu’s closing remarks, she quoted Jawaharlal Nehru “You can tell the condition of a nation by looking at the status of its women”.
