The Deputy Chief Executive (DCE) in charge of the Wildlife Division, Mr. Iddrisu Musah, paid a working visit to staff at the Shai Hills Resource Reserve (SHRR).
He was accompanied by the Executive Director, Wildlife Division, Mr. Bernard Asamoah Boateng; Director, Stakeholder and Ecotourism , Dr. Richard Gyimah; HR Director, Mrs. Anne Brown; and HR Manager, Wildlife Division , Ms. Stella Sankah.The DCE and his team took turns to address the staff at a gathering and congratulated them for the good work done in the previous years and inspired them to do more in the coming years.
 At the gathering, the DCE and his entourage also donated an undisclosed amount , together with fruits and some other essentials , to Mr. Shine Akpoto, a Resource Guard at the Reserve who was shot on the right thigh in the process of performing his duties . Mr Akpoto was acting upon a tip off about poachers who had entered the Reserve on December 22, 2022.
The team encouraged staff not to lose hope as a result of the incident but rather work hard. They also assured staff that the Forestry Commission is following the matter to the letter and will ensure that, the perpetrators of that crime face the full rigours of the law.
 Shai Hills Resource Reserve is located in the Accra plains of the Greater Accra Region. The Reserve is about an hour ‘s drive from Accra. It occupies an area of 51km2 .
 The Hills at the Resource Reserve were once homes to an ancient and proud society of Shai. It is also home to baboons, green and spot – nosed monkeys and birds. The Reserve can also boast of twisted ficus trees that manage to grow through narrow gaps in the rocks.
