The newly appointed Executive Director (ED) of the Forest Services Division (FSD) of the Forestry Commission, Mr. Hugh C.A Brown, has paid an official visit to the Ashanti Regional office as part of his tour since his appointment.

The visit coincided with the Annual Performance Review Meeting of the Region where all district heads and some of their staff meet to discuss and present their annual report for the past year, and also discuss their plans for the new year.

The meeting was moderated by Mrs. Petrina Morkeh, the Assistant Human Resource Manager for the Region.

Mr. Clement Amoh Omari, the Ashanti Regional Manager, started by formally introducing the Executive Director to the management staff, congratulated him on his appointment and welcomed him to the Region. In his speech Mr. Clement Omari assured the ED of the Region’s total support to him in carrying out his (ED’s) official duties. Mr. Omari also presented some of the challenges staff in the Region face in executing their duties.

Mr. Hugh C.A Brown thanked Mr. Omari and his team for how warmly they received him and also expressed his gratitude for their support and assured management that he would do his best to work with FC management to address their challenges.

He charged them to be mindful of the Division’s mandate and to strive to protect and sustainably manage and develop the forest resources of Ghana.

He concluded his speech by commending the Region on the recent action taken against illegal mining activities in the Bekwai District.
