A team of Forestry Commission (FC)staff has paid a working visit to the Effutu Traditional Council and Municipal Assembly on behalf of the Chief Executive, Mr. John Allotey .
The visit was to discuss matters affecting the protection of the Muni-Pomadze Ramsar Site and other forest reserves in the Winneba Forest District and strategise for the way forward.

The Team had separate fruitful deliberations with Neenyi Ghartey VII , Head of the Effutu Traditional Council, and the MCE of Effutu Municipal Assembly, Hon. Kassim Zubeiru

The team comprised of the Director, Stakeholder & Ecotourism, Wildlife Division (WD)Dr. Richard Gyimah; Head of the Rapid Response Team, Mr. Samuel Darko Akonnor,; Winneba Forest District Manager, Forest Services Division (FSD), Ms. Faustina Animah as well as the Site Manager(WD), Ms. Vivian Aye Addo.
Other members of the team were the Assistant District Manager, Mr. Ishaque Abdulrahman; and the Deputy Site Manager, Mr. Adolph Ackaah Mokwah.

The team took the opportunity to visit the Ramsar Site and observed the extent of encroachment. Among other illegal activities, the team also observed charcoal production and cattle grazing in some parts of the forest district and protected areas.

Currently, the Rapid Response Team is stationed at Winneba FC Office to provide support to WD and FSD in the monitoring of illegal activities in the District
