The Human Resources Department (HRD) of the Forestry Commission (FC) has organised a capacity building workshop for selected regional Public Relations Officers (PROs). This marks a significant step in the Commission’s agenda to decentralise its Public Relations and information dissemination network.
Mrs. Anne Brown, Director of Human Resource, mentioned that Public Relations has been a long-standing practice within the organisation. ‘Public Relations plays a crucial role in shaping and maintaining the public image and reputation of the Forestry Commission. Our ability to build relations, connect with various stakeholders and effectively communicate messages and goodwill is fundamental to the success of this institution”, she elaborated. She concluded by urging the new PR officers to work together with staff in their various regions to help in achieving the objectives of the Commission.
Mr. Kenneth Ofori Amankwah, Chairman of the Public and International Relations Committee of the FC Board, emphasised the importance of PROs in pushing the boundaries of excellence within the organisation.
Mr. Kwaku Addo Sakyi Addo, a seasoned award-winning journalist, presented on the strategic efforts by the Forestry Commission to strengthen its public relations structure at various levels, ensuring effective communication, community engagement and media relations.
Others presentations were made by Mrs. Joyce Ofori- Kwafo, Manager of Corporate Affairs and Media Relations Unit (CAMRU) and Miss Clara Allotey. The presentations touched on the general overview of CAMRU, attributes of a successful PRO and roles of the regional PROs.
