The Executive Director of the Wildlife Division (WD) of the Forestry Commission, Dr Joseph Boakye Esq., accompanied by the Business Planning Manager, Mr James Oppong, have made a two-day familiarization visit to the Mole National Park (MNP), Savannah Region, and other places of interest in the region.
The visit was an opportunity to appreciate the issues of the Mole National Park and at the same time interact with management and staff of the Park.
A Management meeting and staff durbar were organized in his honour, to welcome him. Similar meetings took place with the management of the hospitality facilities in the park, namely the Mole Motel and Zaina Eco-Lodge to introduce the new WD Executive Director to managers of the facilities.
During the meeting with MNP Management and staff, Park Manager, Mr. Ali Mahama, welcomed the Executive Director, Dr Boakye, and briefed him on the state of the Park.
Dr Boakye, elated about the facilities at the MNP which he indicated were the footprints of the former Executive Director, Mr Bernard Asamoah Boateng, thanked the staff for the good work done through the years.
He attributed those notable achievements to the unflinching support of the hardworking staff of the Division, and was very confident that, staff would lend the same support to him in order to achieve the Commission’s goals.
He entreated the staff to see the Park’s natural resources as a heritage given to them by nature, and be good custodians by actively safeguarding it from exploitation. He urged them to be problem solvers and not problem aggravators, as they strive towards achieving the vision of the Commission.
The ED assured them that he would do his best to make the working environment very conducive for staff, and further entreated them to support him during his tenure as head of the Division.
Dr Boakye, his team, with the Park Management made a courtesy call on the Overlord of the Gonja Kingdom, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale I at the Jakpa Palace.
Dr. Boakye, expressed gratitude to the Overlord, for the support to management and staff of the MNP over the years, and implored that same be extended to him during his administration.
