The Ghana Institute of Foresters (GIF) inaugurated the Bono East Regional Chapter at the Forest Services Division (FSD) Regional Office in Techiman.
The Vice President of the Institute, who was also the Guest Speaker for the event, Mr. Isaac Adonteng in a statement presented on behalf of the President, Dr. Abubakar N. Atta, outlined the mission and vision of the Institute and highlighted the importance and benefits members stand to gain. These included continuous education, assistance for members battling with prostate cancer, intercession for members when they have problems with their employers, and negotiating with employers to get a quota for natural resource students in the various organizations.
Mr. Adonteng mentioned the group of people who can be part of this noble Institute, including staff of the Forestry Commission, students studying Natural Resources at the various institutions, lecturers and others interested in joining the program.
He also mentioned the criteria for selection which indicates that before someone can be a member, he/ she needs to write exams and get certification from the Institute. However, the staff of the Forestry Commission and lecturers are exempted from these exams.
In his closing remarks, Mr. Adonteng urged members to be ambassadors of the institute to attract more members.
As part of the programme, elections were held to select executives for the chapter. The executives elected were ;

Mr.Dickson Adjei Sakyi, in his acceptance speech as the President of the Bono East Chapter, tasked members to give their maximum support to the executives to work efficiently and effectively for the growth of the Chapter in the Region.
He used the platform to express his appreciation to members for prioritizing the event and coming in their numbers to grace the occasion.
