The Forestry Commission Takoradi, organized a fun-filled day of games and activities to mark Breast Cancer Awareness month, promoting unity and collaboration among its Divisions.

This event followed a two-day orientation program for National Service Personnel of the three divisions, held on October 16-17, 2024, at the Timber Industry Development Division. The orientation aimed to emphasize the unity of the divisions, with presentations by department heads and senior managers showcasing each unit’s functions.

The event, held at the 2nd Infantry Battalion Barracks, Apremdo, on the 25th of October, 2024, kicked off with a thought-provoking discussion on breast and prostate cancer by medical professionals from the 2BN Military Hospital.

Female participants underwent breast cancer screening, emphasizing the importance of early detection and the need to take regular medical check-ups upon spoting any abnormality of the breast.

The games commenced with a 50-meter race featuring Senior Managers, including Director of Operations of the Timber Industry Development Division, Dr. Richard Gyimah, Regional Manager of the Forest Services Division, Mr. Michael Pintsil, and Regional Account Officer of the Wildlife Division, Mr. Stephen Kumah.

Mr. Richard Paintsil emerged victorious, followed closely by Dr. Gyimah as the first runner-up and Mr. Kumah as the second runner-up.

Subsequent games included football, volleyball, tag of peace, ludo, draft, and oware.

Wildlife Division clinched the football title, while Timber Industry Development Division excelled in volleyball and basketball.

Forest Services Division demonstrated impressive teamwork but failed to secure any wins. The head coach, Mr. Listowel kwame Poku, who is also the Regional Human Resource Manager, FSD, promised a better performance in the coming years.

A unique aspect of the event was the ladies section, where a combined team from all the three Divisions played a unified match, promoting cohesion and teamwork.

According to Dr. Gyimah, the initiative aimed to foster unity and collaboration among the three Divisions, enhancing the Commission’s reputation in achieving its vision and mission. “It’s crucial we see ourselves as one, to render support when necessary,” he emphasized.

He therefore applauded the six member committee which is made up of two representatives each of the three Divisions and chaired by Mr. Agyei Kusi, HR of TIDD, for putting heads together to make the program a success.

This initiative was introduced by Dr. Richard Gyimah, for the purpose of solidarity among the Divisions.

The successful event demonstrated the Forestry Commission’s commitment to promoting health awareness, teamwork, and unity among its staff.

The program was climaxed with a group picture of the Senior Managers of the three Divisions, the various staff and National Service Personnel.
