A team from the African Development Bank (AfDB) and the Ministry of Finance (MoF) has paid a working visit to the Forestry Commission (FC). The purpose was to have an interactive session to seek information on priority areas and programme interventions being implemented by the Forestry Commission.
Dr. Joseph Appiah- Gyapong, Manager for the Donor Relations/Project Unit, gave a presentation on the Forestry Commission, which touched on the vision and mission ; the various Divisions and their operations; ongoing/upcoming projects and the core mandate of FC. The presentation also included growth of the forestry sector, related policies, illegalities, climate change actions, landscape restoration initiatives and gaps needed to support the sector.
The leader of the team, Mr. Robert Ochieny, mentioned that the objective of the mission is to ascertain the achievements and challenges encountered by AfDB during implementation of the current Ghana Country Strategy Paper (CSP) 2019-2023,as well as draw lessons which will inform the formulation of the next CSP cycle (2024-2028) for Ghana. He also spoke on the processes an institution must take to secure funds from the AfDB.
He said the team will also use the opportunity to articulate the strategic and policy focus areas of the AfDB and also provide insights into how these strategies and priorities guide the Bank’s engagement with Ghana.
The dialogue session was climaxed with a question and answer session
