The Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission, Mr. John Allotey, together with the Deputy Minister of Lands and Natural Resources in charge of Forestry, Hon. Benito Owusu Bio, led a media tour to the Achimota Forest to assure the media and the general public that the Forest is intact.
Mr. John Allotey, indicated that, there are constant and deliberate efforts to plant and maintain more trees, all in an attempt to sustain the Forest. There is therefore, no truth in speculations making rounds that, the Achimota Forest has been sold. Mr. Allotey then spoke widely on the different species of plants that can be found in the Achimota Forest.
Hon. Benito Owusu-Bio added that, the general public should be rest assured that the Achimota Forest is intact and that, the Government has no intention whatsoever to sell any part of the Forest. Rather, the Government is taking measures to improve and sustain the Forest.
The media toured the Accra Zoo, located in the Achimota Forest, and portions of the Forest adjacent the N1 Highway.
