The Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission (FC), Mr. John Allotey,has joined the Ga Mantse, Nii Tackie Teiko Tsuru II and his entourage to perform this year’s Kempinski Christmas tree lighting ceremony for deprived and underprivileged children. Mr. Allotey was accompanied by Mr. Hugh Brown, Executive Director, Forest Services Division.
The event hosted pupils from the Akropong School for the Blind (ASB), Kressner Children’s Home at Otaten and street children from the Children Empowerment Foundation. Also present were members of the Diplomatic Corps and other high profile personalities.
The Ga Mantse and the General Manager of Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City , Mr Hano Barkhoff, officially lit the Christmas to open the ceremony.
Mr. Hanno Barkhoff expressed his excitement to unveil their ten-year anniversary logo, adding that, it is a privilege to call Ghana their home. “Our commitment to impacting local communities remain unwavering”. He explained how much support the Hotel has extended through a number of social interventions such as providing inclusive spaces for people living with autism through employment. He continued to thank the gathering on behalf of the Kempinski Hotel Gold Coast City, Accra for their participation, encouraged unity among communities and wished everyone the season’s joy .
“The children represent the hope and future of our nation, and we want them to be proud of Ghana”, said Ambassador Sylvester Parker – Allotey, Chief of Protocol and Communications, Office of the Ga Mantse, speaking on behalf of the King. He also admonished the children to keep an attitude of patriotism. He mentioned that the night was also to celebrate the tenth anniversary of the hotel and commended them for their exceptional service and innovation in social responsibility throughout the decade. He entreated every Ghanaian child to envisage the ceremony as a lit flame to dream boldly, work hard and to know that they are deeply valued by cultural beliefs. Finally, he urged everyone present to spread love, happiness and unity at every given chance.
As the special guest of honor, the Chief Executive joined the Ga Mantse and the General Manager of Kempinski Hotel to present festive gifts to the children present, amidst music by Becca, Kwanpa Band among others. There were performances by kids from the Children Empowerment Foundation, while students from ASB entertained the guests with melodious Christmas carols.
