On behalf of the Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission, Mr. John Allotey, the Deputy Chief Executive, Mr. Nyadia Sulemana Nelson, led a team to visit The Dean of Diplomatic Corps and Lebanese Ambassador to Ghana, His Excellency Maher Kheir.
This visit according to Deputy Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission, was to appreciate him and members of the Diplomatic Corps for participating in the 2024 Green Ghana Day planting exercise.
He stated that through the diplomatic corps, the world has known what Ghana is doing to protect the environment. He explained that the Green Ghana Day planting exercise was done to also address the local environment problems and inspire other people around the globe to emulate them. He expressed the optimism that the young generation will follow this exercise because the Forestry Commission will be introducing different projects and strategies for them so that they could take it up as a daily lifestyle.
Mr. Nyadia then presented a letter of appreciation to The Dean to commemorate the purpose of the visit and also submitted 21 letters of appreciation to be delivered to the other diplomats.
Addressing the team, the Lebanese Ambassador and Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, His Excellency Maher Kheir, welcomed the team and commended the Commission for a revolutionary vision of protecting and enriching landscape and vegetation. According to him, their efforts towards building a better and greener future are highly appreciated. He stated that he and the diplomats are ever willing to support any tree planting exercise hence they can call on them anytime there is such an exercise. He also added that a copy of the reviewed Plantations Strategy should be sent to him so that he could solicit for sponsorship from the other embassies on their behalf.
