The Overlord of the Ashanti Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has assured the Chief Executive of the Forestry Commission, Mr John Allotey, that all his chiefs and people in the Region will participate in the 2024 Edition of the Green Ghana Day which will be commemorated on June 7.
The Asantehene made these known when the Chief Executive called on him at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi. He was accompanied by the Deputy Chief Executive, Hon. Martha Kwayie Manu; Mrs Joyce Kwafo, Manager of the Corporate Affairs & Media Relations Unit as well as top management of the Commission in the Ashanti Region.
Mr. Allotey officially informed Otumfuo of the Green Ghana Day, which he said is slated for June 7, 2024. He further told the King that he would be planting at the Golf Course in Kumasi as he had done in the last three editions of the Green Ghana Day.
The Chief Executive thanked Otumfuo for his support in diverse ways towards the work of the Commission in the Ashanti Region and said that the Region had always exceeded its target for Green Ghana Day since its inception in 2021, and he believed that it would be repeated this year.
Mr. Allotey congratulated Otumfuo on his 25th anniversary of ascending the throne and wished him well in his future endeavours. He presented the King with drinks and an undisclosed amount of money.
