The Acting Director General of the State Interests and Governance Authority (SIGA), Hon. John Boadu, has paid a courtesy visit to the Forestry Commission (FC).
The purpose of the visit was to familiarise himself with the activities of the Commission.
Hon. Musah Superior, Deputy Chief Executive of FC, received the delegation from SIGA on behalf of the Chief Executive, Mr. John Allotey. He mentioned that Mr. Allotey wanted to be present but he had to attend to an equally important task.
Hon. Superior said SIGA’s role to national development is quite unique and if the government has to deliver , then of course state institutions like FC will have to do likewise. “I think that the modernisation of SIGA is significant and critical in the forward movement of the universal governance of the country, we are happy the team is here and it’s a privilege to meet the team”, he said.
Mr. Cudjoe Awudi, Director of Corporate Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation, gave an insightful presentation on the general overview of FC. He touched on ongoing projects, policies, mission, vision, flagship projects like the Green Ghana Day, Modified Taungya System, REDD+ and the proposed establishment of new zoos in other regions in the country.
Hon. John Boadu expressed gratitude to Hon. Musah Superior and the Executive Management Team for the warm reception. He also thanked Mr. Awudi for the informative presentation, educating him more on the mandate of the Forestry Commission.
There was an interactive session after the presentation by Mr. Awudi.
