A team from the Forestry Commission (FC) Corporate Head Office, led by the Corporate Human Resource Manager, Mr. Mitchell Attipoe, has paid a working visit to the Upper East Region, to sensitize staff of Bolgatanga, Bawku and Navrongo offices on the Tier 2 pension scheme.
Mr. Attipoe said the visit was to brief staff on the Tier 2 Pension Scheme and educate them on how to enroll and access the Public Sector Workers Employees’ Pension Scheme (PSWEPS) contributions.

Miss Nasibah Yusif, Public Sector Workers Employees’ Pension Scheme (PSWEPS) Data Analyst, explained that the Scheme is a mandatory, defined contribution scheme, funded by 5% of an employee’s basic salary and an employer-sponsored Occupational Pension Module. According to her, the scheme was established in January 2018, purposely to manage tier-two pension contributions of public sector workers. The scheme she said, is duly registered with the National Pension Regulatory Authority (NPRA).

Miss Loretta Asare, PSWEPS Client Relationship Officer, outlined the Mission and Vision of the PSWEPS, and added that they are constantly working to keep the passion of ensuring income security for its members after retirement.

According to her, the PSWEPS has a team of trusted, knowledgeable and dedicated professionals working to maximise value on member’s monthly contributions, towards a secured retirement. She added that it provides an efficient platform for contributors to access their statements online at any time. She also mentioned that they frequently engage their members, listen to their ideas and concerns, and also provide pension education to them.

Staff were taken through the registration processes, and how to log in to access statements of account, after which accounts were created for them.

The Scheme is managed by a 15-member Board of Trustees with representations from the Trade Union Congress (TUC), participating Institutions and Government. There is also an appointed independent trustee in accordance with the National Pensions Act, 2008(Act766) as amended.
