A delegation from the Forestry Commission (FC) has paid a courtesy call on the National Chief Imam, His Eminence Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu, to thank him for his participation in the Green Ghana Day last year, and also to seek his blessings, advice and support for this year’s Green Ghana Day (GGD).
The Chief Executive of the FC, Mr. John Allotey, who led the delegation said in 2021 and last year, after the President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Dankwah Akufo Addo, launched the GGD, FC visited His Eminence to inform him and solicit for his support. H.E Nuhu Sharubutu was happy with the project and blessed them, advised them and spoke about it for people to also participate in the planting exercise. At the end, the target was exceeded in both years.
Mr. Allotey also informed him that, this year’s GGD will be held on Friday, 9th June. “We know that when he speaks, people will listen and will be encouraged to come out and plant”, he added.
The National Chief Imam expressed his appreciation to the delegation for always making it a point to include him in this all important exercise. He said GGD is a duty on all Ghanaians and everyone living in Ghana, and advised that we overlook our party affiliations, religious backgrounds and our differences, and come together and plant on the day. He offered prayers for the team and asked Allah to bestow his blessings upon the team, our forests and the country in general.
The delegation included the Acting Executive Director for Timber Industry Development Division (TIDD); Dr. Mohammed Nurudeen; Forest Services Division (FSD) HR Manager, Abdul Nassir Abubakar (Phd); Corporate Affairs and Media Relations Unit (CAMRU) Manager; Mrs. Joyce Ofori Kwafo, and the National Monitoring Coordinator, Mr. Alexander Asum.
